Suika The Watermelon Game, is now up for pre-registration on Android. The game first hit Nintendo Switch in December 2021. Although it didn’t exactly cause a splash on its initial release, it became quite viral in Japan (and worldwide) in 2023.
Suika The Watermelon Game became viral when popular YouTubers like Korone, Hikakin, and even TV stars like Shingo Katori started posting their gameplay videos. The game then surged in the Nintendo eShop to over three million players in October alone. Following this massive success in Japan, the game was launched globally on Switch in October 2023.
It finally made its way to mobile via iOS in January 2024 in Japan and in March 2024 worldwide. And now, Suika The Watermelon Game has opened pre-registrations on Android. Developed by Aladdin X, it’s priced at $2.99.
Contrary to its name, Suika The Watermelon Game doesn’t only have watermelons; it has ten other fruits. You get cherries, strawberries, grapes, dekopons, persimmons, apples, pears, peaches, pineapples and cantaloupes. At a time, you’ll only be juggling the five smallest fruits in your box.
In the game, you’re Poppy, the cloud. You drop fruits from the sky into a box without letting your fruits topple out. Match a pair of fruits and they merge, evolving into a bigger fruit. Keep going until you cap it off with the king in the game, Suika, the watermelon.
Suika will remind you of many similar games. It’s Tetris but with fruits that may pop when not dropped well. It gives out strong Candy Crush Saga vibes as well. All in all, Suika is a fresh take on the block-dropping genre. If you love such games, go ahead and pre-register on the Google Play Store.
