A new image from The Suicide Squad shows a behind the scenes look at Rick Flag's (Joel Kinnaman) death scene. The Suicide Squad is somewhere between a sequel and a reboot of 2016's Suicide Squad. It stands as somewhat of a do-over for DC after their first attempt at a Suicide Squad film was panned by both critics and fans alike. The film follows a group of super-villains who join the secret Task Force X and are dropped off at Corto Maltese. The Suicide Squad is helmed by Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn.
One of the more shocking scenes in The Suicide Squad is when Colonel Rick Flag is killed by Peacemaker (played by John Cena). The scene is somewhat brutal, and was sad for some fans to watch as well. Many fans were slightly disappointed by Flag's somewhat two dimensional portrayal in the 2016 film, and DC obviously heard this criticism. Flag is much more well rounded in The Suicide Squad, which does have the unfortunate side-effect of making the moment when he is stabbed through the heart with a shard of porcelain much more impactful for fans.

In a new photo posted on Instagram by director Gunn, fans can get a little behind the scenes look at this intense scene. In contrast to the actual scene in the movie, the image depicts Kinnaman, Gunn and Cena all posing together and smiling at the camera while on set. The two actors are, understandably, covered in fake blood, and if a viewer looks closely, they can see that Kinnaman actually has the piece of porcelain still sticking out of his chest (presumably not actually lodged in his heart).
