Stellar Blade's demo is returning to PS5 after it was added and then quickly removed from the PS store earlier this month. It seems that the initial release of the demo was accidental. This time, it's been officially announced by Sony, rather than shadowdropped without any fanfare.
The demo will take players through Stellar Blade's first area and its first boss, and any progress made will be transferable to the full version of the game. It goes live on March 29, this Friday, and will be the first time that many of us have had the chance to try Stellar Blade out for ourselves.
A blog post from Stellar Blade's director, Kim Hyung Tae, sheds some more light on what we can expect from the demo. He explains that it will take us through both the first stage and the first boss in Stellar Blade, and will act as a tutorial for the game mechanics. He also says that it will make the most of the PS5 controller's haptic feedback, which isn't too surprising, as Stellar Blade is a PS5 exclusive.
In addition to all of this, the game director also teases a "little surprise" for anyone who completes the first stage during this demo period. He doesn't say anything else about what this surprise might be though.
According to those who played the Stellar Blade demo early, it will take around 40 minutes to beat.
The exact time that this demo goes live this Friday is 7am PDT / 2pm GMT, as per the announcement. Some users, of course, might have it installed on their consoles already, since it was mistakenly shared on the PS store on March 8. It was only live for around 30 minutes, but that was enough time for PS5 owners to install the demo and then disconnect their consoles from the internet so they could keep it once PlayStation realised its mistake. Gameplay footage was quickly shared online, so this demo won't come as a complete surprise when it re-releases this week.
As for the full game, it's set to launch on April 26, so it's not too far away now. It will launch exclusively on PS5.
