Newly surfaced Steam data has just revealed the countries that are driving the early sales of Hogwarts Legacy on PC. While this version of the hit action RPG is also sold by other retailers, Valve's storefront is arguably the most relevant data source for analyzing the game's popularity among PC players, both due to its sheer size and the fact that Hogwarts Legacy is WB Games' biggest Steam launch ever.
Following three days' worth of early access, Hogwarts Legacy hit PC and current-generation consoles on February 10, debuting to critical acclaim and praise from fans. Commercial success followed, with Hogwarts Legacy proceeding to break sales records all over the world.
Hogwarts Legacy Soars to the Top of Yet Another Sales Chart
While it's still a bit early to judge the full extent of this historic launch, Steam scraper Gamalytic has already provided a rough breakdown of the game's PC sales by country, based on the analysis of all public user profiles on Valve's platform. According to its estimates, Hogwarts Legacy Steam sales are in the ballpark of 5 million, with nearly one-third of them coming from the United States, followed by Germany at approximately 7%, as well as Brazil and the United Kingdom at around 6% each.
Assuming a flat 70-30 revenue split between Warner Bros. and Valve, the newly emerged estimates suggest Hogwarts Legacy already made its publisher some $210 million via the leading PC storefront. While WB Games never disclosed the project's official budget, this data point still puts the company in the green with Steam sales alone even if Hogwarts Legacy had one of the biggest game development budgets in the history of the industry (which it plausibly did).
