To say that there are some dedicated Harry Potter fans would be quite an understatement. These fans would notice an incorrect detail in Hogwarts Legacy instantly. There are probably even several such fans working at Avalanche Software to ensure Hogwarts Legacy is incredibly accurate to the Harry Potter books. But necktie design isn't necessarily a Harry Potter-specific issue.
In Hogwarts Legacy, players take on the role of a student at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hogwarts is located somewhere within the country of Scotland, though its specific location is intentionally unclear. Nevertheless, the students at Hogwarts wear uniforms that are similar in nature to private schools. More specifically, due to the house-based social structure of Hogwarts, it takes inspiration from the United Kingdom's Victorian period of private school culture, though it remains common even now.

Hogwarts Legacy player CaptainRumBelly, who notes that they've chosen Slytherin as their Hogwarts house, has provided a thorough analysis of the game's neckties and alleges that they are in fact incorrectly presented. The stripes on Hogwarts Legacy's ties, more appropriately named repp-stripe ties, aren't aligned correctly. There are two issues in total. One, the stripes on the lower part of the tie point upward towards the right shoulder instead of the left, toward the heart. Secondly, the upper part of the tie is aligned with the bottom part instead of going in the opposite direction.
