Starfield’s first post-launch expansion, titled Shattered Space, is due out later this year, but as developer Bethesda Game Studios has made abundantly clear, the plan is to have more expansions in the years ahead, and at an annual clip no less. With Shattered Space still yet to release, we obviously don’t know much about what future expansions will be called, but it seems an intriguing piece of information on that front may have emerged nonetheless.
Spotted by Twitter user @bogorad222, ZeniMax Media – parent company of Bethesda – has registered a new trademark for something titled Starborn. The trademark was filed earlier this month with with the US Patent and Trademark Office, and, as per the filing, is meant for the purposes of video game software. Though the filing itself obviously doesn’t explicitly mention anything, it’s likely that Starborn is the name of the next Starfield expansion.
NOTE: Starfield spoilers follow.
As revealed in Starfield towards the latter stages of the main story, the Starborn are a group of enigmatic and superpowered multiversal individuals who have the ability to travel between different universes and realities. If Starborn is indeed the space-faring RPG’s next expansion’s name, the group will have a major role to play in its story, judging by the trademark filing, and assuming that it is indeed for the next DLC the game receives.
Spoilers end.
As for Starfield: Shattered Space, the upcoming expansion will take players to an entirely new planet and tell a new story focused on the faction known as House Va’ruun. As per director Todd Howard, the expansion (and future expansions) will be similar in size to Fallout 4: Far Harbor.
Starfield: Shattered Space is out this year for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Though a specific release date is currently unknown, previous leaks have claimed it will release in September.
