Between all the big games in September and October, Massive Entertainment’s Star Wars Outlaws has somewhat fallen by the wayside (the “softer than expected” initial sales didn’t help either). However, it’s received three Title Updates since then, improving several key areas like stealth, enemy AI and the speeder.
In a new Dev Update article, creative director Drew Rechner teased three areas the developer focuses on for Title Update 1.4, which is out on November 21st: Combat, stealth, and character controls. “We see a real opportunity to add more depth and excitement to the experience, further rewarding your tactics and precision,” he said regarding combat improvements.
“Our second key area is stealth, which is not only about improving the readability and consistency of enemy detection but also providing choice in how you want to approach each encounter.” As for the controls, the team wants to improve “the reliability of cover, increasing the responsiveness of climbing and crouching, and generally improving the consistency of the controls overall.”
There will be further details in the coming weeks, but Massive touts the update as “celebrating and embracing player choice more than ever.” It lands alongside the first story DLC, Wild Card, and the game’s Steam release.
Star Wars Outlaws is available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect. You can read our review here – we rated the launch version a six out of ten, praising the visuals, story, and open-world design while criticizing the movement, technical flaws and stealth.
