Across the Spider-Verse is one of the most visually striking animation films of all time. The entire franchise has been path-breaking for a number of reasons, including taking the iconic comic-book character into different realms. However, a recent fanart on social media made fans wonder what would have happened if Miles Morales had encountered an evil spirit while traveling through different multiverses.
On Instagram,artist Jaxson Derr (@jaxsonderr) envisioned how the Spider-Man universe would have looked if Morales encountered the evil spirit from the legendary horror movie Evil Dead. In the picture, Morales can be seen trying to get out of what looks like a pit filled with liquid. Yet another hand emerges from the liquid, seizing Morales by the neck with a firm grip. By giving a closer look at the picture, it becomes apparent that the hand emerging from the liquid belongs to The Spot. For the uninitiated, The Spot is the main antagonist in Across the Spider-Verse and uses another super-collider to become an entity of pure dark energy.
Across the Spider-Verse did introduce certain elements of horror to the franchise. The Spot has become more powerful than ever and has the ability to destroy anything at will. The character has already declared that he will annihilate everything Morales ever loved and have his revenge. Additionally, a short film titled The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story, expanded the Spider-Verse franchise that had a lot of horror elements. The narrative delves into Morales’ overwhelming anxiety as he struggles to juggle numerous responsibilities in his life. This leads audiences to peer into his subconscious mind. So, fans already have an idea about Morales’ feelings and how he is managing to keep himself sane during tumultuous times.
