Some Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 fans have started pointing out that Peter Parker is missing as an AI companion in combat when the player is controlling Miles Morales. Spider-Man 2 gives gamers two crime-fighting Spider-heroes for the price of one, with Peter returning from the first game and Miles now a fully-fledged web-slinger following his starring role in the 2020 spin-off Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
While Spider-Man 2 doesn’t offer any kind of co-op multiplayer gameplay, it does allow the two Spideys to team up on occasion to take down the criminals of New York City. During certain story missions and free-roaming combat sections, players will sometimes bump into the Spider-Man that they aren’t controlling, who will assist them as an AI companion in battle. This isn’t limited to just Peter or Miles either, as Peter’s former police ally Yuriko Watanabe will sometimes show up to help under her vigilante persona Wraith.
At least, that’s how it’s supposed to be, as a Reddit user by the handle of EamoM2oo4 recently noticed that while Miles is more than happy to lend a hand to Peter in Spider-Man 2, the older web-swinger doesn’t seem to return the favor. In a humorous meme posted to r/SpidermanPS4, they point out that they never encountered Peter as an AI companion in combat while playing as Miles, something that other users find to be odd considering how much he considers Miles to be a partner and protege in Spider-Man 2’s story.
However, another Reddit user makes a clear distinction regarding Peter not appearing as an AI helper in Spider-Man 2. While he might not show up during free-roaming combat, he does swing around in a non-scripted manner during certain story missions. This includes Spider-Man 2’s gripping opening battle against the Sandman, a brief section where Miles has to escort a rattled J Jonah Jameson to the hospital, and the chapter where the two Spider-Men are chasing Kraven the Hunter’s Convoy vessels as they relentlessly pursue the Lizard across the East
