Popular life/farming sim Slime Rancher has had a sequel in the works for a long time, but it's now nearly ready to make the leap to PS5. Slime Rancher 2 has been in early access on PC and Xbox since 2022, and it'll soon add PS5 to the party when it arrives on 11th June, 2024.
It'll still be in its early access phase when it launches on Sony's console, but players will of course receive all previous and future updates as the game closes in on its 1.0 version. PS5 fans will receive an exclusive in-game Slime Toy item, Glo Glo Penguino, while pre-ordering the game will let you begin playing a few days early, on 7th June.
For the uninitiated, Slime Rancher 2 is a sandbox life sim that's all about those titular blob creatures. Using a versatile vacuum gun, you explore the island setting, gather resources, and take care of your various slime species. While that's the main thrust of the gameplay, there are also mysteries and puzzles to uncover as you delve deeper into the experience.

Why does a game that looks like it’s basically just a more of the same sequel to the first game even need to be In early access at all, much less for 2 years? Not sure they understand the meaning of the word early.
Does this mean Playstation is changing its stance on Early Access titles?
@3Above they have for awhile
@rjejr This is why I'm sceptical of Early access titles.
I’ve noticed that Jaffe hasn’t referred to this as that it just looks like dlc
