The Early Access release of Hades 2 has already more than doubled the all-time peak concurrent player count of the first game on Steam.
Hades 2 was released on Steam in Early Access form on Monday, and instantly found its way to the top of the ‘trending games’ list on Steam stats tracker SteamDB.
According to the site, Hades 2 reached a peak of 79,276 players within nine hours of release.
This is more than double the all-time peak of 37,749 reached by the original Hades on Steam.
It should be noted that the first Hades game was originally an Epic Games Store exclusive, where it was released as an Early Access title in 2018, and didn’t come to Steam until 2019.
However, its peak on Steam wasn’t reached until the game came out of Early Access and officially ‘launched’ in September 2020.
Following the Early Access launch, developer Supergiant Games plans to add the rest of the game’s core content and refine what’s already there in a series of updates.
“The story will expand with each update, as we introduce more characters, and deepen relationships with existing ones,” it said.
“This process will culminate in our v1.0 launch, which will feature the conclusion to the story and any other finishing touches.”
