The Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader DLC expansion called Void Shadows is launching this August, introducing 15 hours of new content to the massive cRPG developed by Owlcat Games.
The Void Shadows expansion, which launches on August 8th, will allow players to delve into the depths of their voidship to fight a new enemy that is trying to bring down the von Valacious dynasty from the inside. The expansion will add two new archetypes with unique abilities, new lore content, a new companion, the Death Cult Assassin Kibellah, new crew members, new locations, and more. All the content will be seamlessly integrated into the main campaign, so it will be possible to bring the new companion along in base campaign's quests and use the new archetypes freely.
Even with the Void Shadows DLC expansion, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is a massive cRPG filled to the brim with content. While prior knowledge of the Warhammer 40,000 universe makes it more enjoyable, the game does its best to introduce newcomers to the universe created by Games Workshop, although a lack of innovation and some frustrating mechanics do hold the experience back a bit, as I highlighted in my review.
With the great amount of love for the setting that was poured into the game evident from every line of dialogue and every little detail, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is one of the best games based on the universe created by Games Workshop, and a solid tactical turn-based role-playing game that can provide hundreds of hours of fun. However, while the lack of innovation isn't a major setback thanks to its high-quality campaign, the presence of bugs and frustrating mechanics prevents it from being a must-have for all RPG enthusiasts, limiting its appeal beyond Warhammer 40,000 and Owlcat Games fans.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
