Stellar Blade’s latest update introduces a new Boss Challenge mode to the PS5 exclusive, as well as fresh outfits for protagonist Eve.
Shift Up director Kim Hyung Tae detailed patch 1.003, which also includes several bug fixes and quality of life improvements, in a PlayStation Blog post.
The new mode lets players take on the base game’s 19 bosses again in multiple settings.
“Progression in the Boss Challenge requires battle data from bosses you’ve previously defeated,” said Hyung Tae. “You can also fight bosses on Hard difficulty setting after you’ve seen the ending of the game.
“To start the challenge, you can either load up and use your own gear you’ve been using or choose one of several presets. Choose the minimum preset for a true challenge, which is extremely understated, or the maximum preset, which has all of your skills and stats buffed up, if you want to taunt the boss with some spectacular combat.
“After the challenge is over, your battle data is automatically analyzed. You’ll see metrics like battle time, number of perfect parries and dodges, consumable usage, and more. Test your skills and compare with your friends.”
Players who defeat all bosses in Boss Challenge on normal difficulty or higher will unlock the Neurolink Suit for Eve. The update also adds the White Kunoichi and Black Kunoichi outfits, which can be obtained at Adam’s safehouse.
Shift Up said the patch fixes bugs such as unplayable sections, events not triggering, and trophies not being awarded.
It also adds an auto-lock-on option when exiting ranged mode, plus an option to always show the compass in the HUD.
Shift Up recently confirmed that it’s exploring the possibility of releasing Stellar Blade for PC and developing a sequel to the game.
