Silent Hill 2 players may have noticed a small update to the game upon booting it up. It was so tiny, in fact, that it didn't even warrant a writeup or the standard patch notes. Its primary purpose, apparently, was to remove an unfortunate subtitling snafu that resulted in Italian-language players being hit with a major story spoiler within the first 30 minutes of play. Don't worry—we won't spoil it here!
Relayed to us by PlayStation LifeStyle, Silent Hill 2 update version 1.003.000 changes subtitles shown during an early sequence in which players hear a «disturbed message» via radio, which is supposed to be incomprehensible. Instead, the subtitles shown give away a major story beat, which you can have spoiled for yourself in this thread. Ahead of launch, a group of players reported the issue to Bloober Team, who were able to get the issue fixed in time for launch day, if barely.

Not italian, but even if I was, I would have used the English subtitles.
Translations seldom match the content perfectly, in games or movies… They break the immersion more often than not by using unfit words or expressions, either because of the translator's sloppiness, or of language differences.
