Sabotage Studio announced a milestone of five million players for Sea of Stars this week and released a teaser showing off an upcoming three player couch co-op mode for the game.
Titled “Single Player+” the mode will still feature turn-based gameplay and each player will be able to traverse the environment and do combat with an additional “co-op timed hits” mechanic that the developer intends to release more details on in the future.
Sea of Stars won the Best Indie award at last year’s The Game Awards and takes place in the same universe as Sabotage Studios’ previous game, The Messenger. Sea of Stars hearkens back to the glory days of iconic ‘90s RPG classics and its story focuses on two Children of the Solstice and their mission to fuse the powers of sun and moon in order to wield Eclipse Magic, the only solution to dealing with the game’s antagonist, The Fleshmancer.
Sea of Stars launched last summer and is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and, as well as Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The title is also available free to subscribers of Xbox and PC Game Pass and to Extra and Premium tier subscribers ofSony’s PlayStation Plus.
