Sony has officially revealed the three games coming to the Premium tier of the PlayStation Plus subscription service on April 16, all of which originally debuted on the PS1. The Premium tier of PlayStation Plus is all about giving subscribers access to retro games from legacy platforms. One of the most heavily-featured platforms on PS Plus Premium is the original PS1, which has an extensive library of classic games.
PS Plus Premium features some of the best PS1 games ever made, giving subscribers the chance to revisit some of the platform's most memorable titles. The PS Plus Premium lineup is updated each month to include even more classic titles, with the April 2024 offerings all representing the PS1.
As announced by Sony, the new PS Plus Premium games for April 2024 include Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Star Wars: Rebel Assault 2 — The Hidden Empire, and MediEvil. Out of these, the only one that PS Plus Premium subscribers didn't know about in advance is Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, a horror game that originally released for the console all the way back in 2001. The fourth entry in the Alone in the Dark series, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare earned mixed reviews at the time of its release, but there are those who remember it fondly.
Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare making its debut in the PS Plus Premium catalog comes at a rather fitting time. It was just recently that a brand-new Alone in the Dark game was released for PS5, so it's safe to say some fans may be feeling nostalgic for the older games in the long-running survival-horror franchise. Anyone wanting to take a trip down memory lane can check out Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare through their PS Plus Premium subscription on April 16.
While PS Plus Premium subscribers may be excited to play these retro games on April 16, it should be noted that these are the original PlayStation versions of the games, so they may be missing out on some of the modern features that other PS1
