Aside from a handful of State of Plays, we’ve barely heard a peep from Sony in almost two years. We know games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine are in development, but aside from vague comments about The Last of Us’ standalone multiplayer spin-off, we have no idea what the rest of its first-party teams are up to. In fact, the roadmap for PS5 is largely non-existent outside of third-party stuff. (And that’s without even touching on PSVR2!)

Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, who’s notorious for largely reliable inside information, claims that there’ll be a proper PlayStation Showcase prior to Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, which is currently pegged for 8th June. There’s chatter about this setting up “phase two” for the PS5’s release schedule, so it should be much bigger than your average State of Play. Of course, none of this is officially confirmed by Sony, so temper your expectations until it is.
Personally, we reckon the firm needs a pretty big presentation: it managed to get away without one in 2022, but we don’t think it can coast through another 12 months without some proper, meaningful updates. What would you like to see from a hypothetical PlayStation Showcase? Are there any games in particular that you’re dying to see revealed? Lay it all out in the comments section below.
