Team Ninja has (rather stealthily) released two updates for Rise of the Ronin. The first of these patches (1.02) arrived on the 29th March, while the second (1.03) has only just dropped. However, if you were expecting the developer to address the title's disappointingly flexible frame rate, then you're out of luck.
Indeed, these updates focus exclusively on fixing minor bugs — as per the team's freshly deployed patch notes. Here's hoping that the studio gets around to improving the aforementioned frame rate sooner rather than later.
Do these updates fix any smaller issues that you've encountered? Are you waiting on performance improvements? Continue roaming Japan in the comments section below.
Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, he's played 'em all — a little too much, some might say.
Performance is definitely all over the place and a real blemish on what is a surprisingly beautiful world that has been crafted here. Hope to see some improvements there. Thankfully, gameplay is fantastic.
The optimisation on what is effectively a PS4 game is very poor. I should have gotten this on sale. It is not up to the standard that Sony output for published games. I'm sure someone from gen Z would refer to it as «Rise of Mid».
