11 bit studios announced the release date for Creatures of Ava, a “creature saver” that tasks players with rescuing a variety of creatures from an “unknown infection” that is causing them to act aggressively, despite their typically peaceful nature.
It’s a decidedly pacifist approach to these sorts of games and in sharp contrast to games like Palworld which had players mow down creatures with guns (or even have their own creatures mow down other creatures with guns).
In Creatures of Ava, players will primarily explore the game’s various distinct ecosystems and participate in “non-aggressive combat” where the goal is to heal aggressive creatures of their ailments instead of defeating them. Players can also play a variety of flute melodies to tame creatures they come across. Taming these creatures allows the player to form a bond with them and leverage their skills to traverse the world and overcome a variety of environmental challenges.
The game also features a narrative. Players will take on the role of Vic, a 22 year old nature adventurer who is on an expedition with a researcher named Tabitha. The two will combat the infection plaguing the lands while seeking to uncover the planet’s many secrets.
Creatures of Ava arrives on August 7 for the PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass.
