Hold the Girl singer Rina Sawayama, who stars as Akira in John Wick: Chapter 4, has revealed in an interview with IGN that she’s a “PlayStation girl” through and through – and that she’s eager for Square Enix to remake Final Fantasy IX, which she thinks may be one of the more underrated games of all time.
Speaking about some of her other favourites, she revealed that she’s really enjoying Final Fantasy VII: Remake, but hasn’t had an opportunity to finish it yet. And she added that she’s a fan of IGN’s reviews – although we like to think Rina’s made the odd visit to Push Square from time to time, too!
Born in Japan but brought up in England, Sawayama’s had a string of hits over the past few years, with her avant-garde approach to pop music attracting plaudits. Interestingly, her Final Fantasy fandom can be observed in her song Snakeskin, where she pays homage to the game’s famous battle victory melody.
