Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West developer Guerrilla has confirmed that a new game in the series is in development, and will once again star Aloy. In a management update, Guerrilla announced that studio director and executive producer Angie Smets had taken on the head of development strategy role at PlayStation Studios, and that Smet's previous position will be filled by Joel Eschler, Hella Schmidt, and Jan-Bart van Beek.
Smet had served as studio head alongside Beek and Michiel van der Leeuw, and her departure will see van der Leeuw step away from that role to focus on leading technology and strategy for Guerrilla's Decima engine.

Aloy's next adventure was all but written in stone, as the last game, Forbidden West, planted seeds for a threequel throughout its campaign.
The Zero Dawn sequel also received a major expansion this month, Burning Shores, which continues Aloy's journey across the US to prepare for the arrival of the genocidal artificial intelligence Nemesis.
Guerrilla had also hinted in December that it was «continuing to create epic solo adventures for Aloy» through a number of transmedia projects, including the release of Horizon Call of the Mountain on PlayStation VR2, a rumored Horizon Zero Dawn remaster for
