Humble Games has announced that Wizard of Legend 2 is in development, and that it’s coming from Dead Mage, the makers of Children of Morta.
Wizard of Legend is now an IP fully owned by Humble, and they’ve sought out a new developer to make a sequel, doing so with the blessing of the original developer Contingent99, who are in a consulting role.
While the original game had a pixel art aesthetic, as so many indie games do, Wizard of Legend 2 is making the jump to a 3D game engine and a slightly more cartoony art style.
Oh, and don’t worry, this sequel still has co-op for up to four players.
Wizard of Legend 2 is currently announced for release on PC, though given how well the original game did with proliferating to other platforms, we’ll be hoping for a console release as well.
We dished out an almighty 9/10 for Wizard of Legend when it arrived on Nintendo Switch in 2018. Jason said, “While Wizard of Legend will be too difficult for some, for those who love the Rogue-lite genre and enjoy a challenge it is definitely in the upper echelons. Consistently challenging but impossible to put down is certainly a cliche, but it’s a perfect description of this game.”
Tom then reviewed Children of Morta for us a year later, saying, “A lot of love and time has gone into Children of Morta, and the level of polish and complexity across its narrative and gameplay make it one of the most interesting roguelites to date. The difficulty curve and relative brevity of its story may put some off, but Children of Morta is a beautifully crafted, polished roguelite that deserves your attention.”
