I might be about to make an embarrassing confession here, but based on the other kids with a shared interest in the Pokemon TCG when I was at school in the late '90s, I don't think I'm alone. When I first got into Pokemon cards along with what felt like everyone else about 25 years ago, I had no idea how to actually play the game. I was only interested in filling my folder with rare and shiny cards. If only something like My First Battle had been around to lend me and my friends a helping hand back then.
Pokemon TCG: My First Battle is a new set of cards designed to be played with the whole family and as a way to introduce younger trainers to the game. There are two sets available now, one with Pikachu and Bulbasaur front and center, and another which replaces them with Charmander and Squirtle. Each set includes two mini decks, each made up of 17 cards, two playmats, a rulebook, a Pokemon coin, damage counters, and prize tokens.

My First Battle is a streamlined version of the TCG which Pokemon describes as "foolproof" (I'll be the judge of that).
