Today's Pokemon Presents included a handful of big announcements that will have excited plenty of you, and as usual was also padded with news and updates about some of its ongoing smaller games. That included quite a bit of new content and information about Pokemon Masters EX, and while the news about the mobile game was exciting for those who play, all I can think about are those awful British accents.
The Masters EX section of the show included two big reveals. That an event celebrating three and a half years since its launch will feature sync pairs from six different regions, and also that a number of sync pairs pulled from Sword & Shield will be joining a returning Leon and his Charizard. Hop and Galarian Zapdos, Bede and Galarian Articuno, and Marnie with a Galarian Articuno.

If you have played Sword & Shield, how the new Galarian pairs look won't have come as a surprise. When they started speaking, on the other hand, you may have been slightly taken aback. You may have even winced a little if you're anything like me. Since the Galar region is modeled after the UK, all four trainers had British accents. Thick British accents that have clearly not been voiced by British people.
That in itself isn't an issue. However, the characters sound a little like they have been voiced by people who have never heard a British accent before. That the actors have based their efforts on someone who came to the UK once on holiday describing it to them. Either that or they watched Snatch and assumed that's what we all sound like which, in defense of Pokemon, most people seem to assume outside of the UK.
