With the recent Pokémon Presents having laid out several new announcements regarding the series' 2023 prospects, support for the most recent mainline games,, are looking to be the franchise's main focus for the year, with most other announcements involving ongoing spinoffs or mobile projects.
With the reveal of 's new DLC,, as well as the announcement of upcoming support, the most recent mainline game has set itself up for continuing support in the same manner as before it, with two DLC packs including new areas and Pokémon. The first,, releases in Fall 2023, while the second,, is set to launch later in the year, in Winter 2023. Aside from a few looks at characters, areas, and new and returning Pokémon, much of the information about t DLC is unknown — however, their respective release dates couldleave little room for a new game in 2023.

With both of 's DLCs planned for 2023 releases, the franchise is unlikely to release another game within the year. Outside the upcoming Pokémon SLEEP finally being real, the most recent Pokémon Presents had a notable lack of new release announcements, pointing to the DLCs being the franchise's main game-related focus for 2023. Additionally, it would also match up well with the scheduling of the franchise around the time of DLCs, as both released in 2020, with the next game, only being announced the next year in 2021, and then released in 2022.
