A recent fan theory has surfaced, linking Terapagos — one of two legendary Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's DLC — to the region of Paldea. Terapagos will be one of two legendary Pokemon arriving to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC.
The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is the first DLC for the ninth generation of the Pokemon franchise, split into two parts — The Teal Mask, releasing in Fall 2023, and The Indigo Disk, releasing in Winter 2023. With the excitement of new content comes the hope that some Pokemon will return to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to further expand the game's roster.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Had a Hidden Teal Mask DLC Hint This Whole Time
Twitter user @Mootmonthly shared an image to the social media platform of the region of Paldea, which has since hit over one million impressions and 35,000 likes. The photo depicts Terapagos next to the entire region of Paldea, highlighting the similar shape between the two. The island of Paldea looks eerily similar to the Pokemon, including the Area Zero base, located in the center of the map, which has the same shape as the middle of Terapagos' shell. Following the DLC announcement, many theories were created on the unique design of Terapagos, and what it could mean to the lore of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Terapagos, the game mascot of Indigo Disk, is a reptilian-like Pokemon, with a shell made of 18 crystal pentagon sections decorated to each type icon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The hexagon section located directly in the center of the shell not only resembles the Area Zero base, but is also white, potentially linking the legendary Pokemon to the Terastal phenomenon introduced in this generation.
