By now it's no secret that the Pokemon anime plans to move on from Ash as its main character in the next season, and they have already named the two main characters as Liko and Roy. With the current season counting down Ash’s final episodes, Pokemon has introduced four more characters who will take part in its next season.
The Pokemon anime started in 1997 as an adaptation of the popular game series, introducing Ash Ketchum, a young boy with the dream of becoming a Pokemon master. For many seasons he struggled to accomplish this, seemingly getting ever closer and more experienced as a trainer but never quite getting there. But now, he is slated to compete in the Master Eight Tournament, which has already been revealed to culminate in Ash’s victory over the formerly undefeated Leon. With such an accomplishment under his belt, it's time for some new characters to take the spotlight. Enter Liko and Roy.
Pokemon Announces Stop-Motion Animated Series
As previously stated, the next season of the anime will chronicle the adventures of Liko and Roy in the newest region introduced to the franchise, Paldea. Along with the main characters, an adult figure named Professor Friede and his partner Pokemon Captain Pikachu has already been previously introduced. In the recent trailers, four new characters who call themselves the Rising Volteckers and appear to call Friede their leader have been introduced.
The four characters, just like Liko, Roy, and Friede, all appear to come with their own partner Pokemon. The names of these mysterious new trainers and their Pokemon are Ayane and Metagross, Kenta and Rockruff, Kei and Chansey, and Ikkyu with seemingly no partner.
