A talented Pokemon artist has created animated sprites for some of the first-generation Pokemon. The nine Pokemon generations have featured hundreds of creatures, with several of them becoming fan-favorites. But while there are so many different Pokemon, fans still have a special appreciation for Gen 1 and its 151 Pokemon.
The first Pokemon generation is iconic for being the start of one of the world's most famous entertainment franchises. Some Gen 1 Pokemon designs are very creative, with critters like Gengar, Scyther, and Mewtwo remembered by fans to this day because of their looks. According to the artist, their project focuses on animating sprites of only the final evolutions of each generation's Pokemon, which is why the GIF lacks popular names like Eevee, Growlithe, and Pikachu. To add even more nostalgia to their work, the artist added a bouncing effect to the sprites, reminiscent of the first Pokemon games.
The other Redditors praised the OP's work and were nostalgic about the sprites, choosing Snorlax, Electrode, and Raichu as their favorites. Another comment noted with sadness that Pokemon no longer has menu sprites in this way, something last seen with the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield. After that, they got replaced by 3D models, leaving some fans nostalgic for the earlier look.
