Rumors of a release date for have existed for years, but new rumors suggest an update could be coming soon. The as-yet-unannounced installment in the spinoff series, would technically be the seventh mainline game. However, it'd only be the fourth since the series established its own identity, a process that began with the incorporation of social simulation elements into .
Many expected Atlus to follow the success of with an immediate sequel, but it instead opted for a ground-up remake in and its expansion pass. But leaker Head on the Block (AKA I'm A Hero Too) seems to think the sequelis almost finished, and alleges in a post on the ResetEra forums that could be released as early as 2025. They claim it'll be released as a complete game, with story DLC to follow.
Although Head on the Block doesn't provide any definitive proof of these particular claims, they've been known in the community as a fairly reliable leaker for a few years now. They were one of many sources who claimed to know of prior to its announcement, and leaked some details about the Nintendo Switch 2 last year. In the same post, they also point to their consistent reporting on the long-rumored remake in support of their insider knowledge. But even the most reliable leakers get things wrong from time to time.
What's most obvious is that this supposed release strategy differs from the usual roadmap, which usually involves an initial release, then an "" release a few years later. doesn't usually do story DLC at all — is the first game in the series to get a substantial story expansion. Still, it's clear that Sega (and Atlus by extension) is in the midst of a pretty significant shakeup at the moment.
