Strategy and RPG fans have something to look forward to next week, as Paradox Interactive will be streaming an “Announcement Show” in early March. Interestingly, this show will be co-presented by Xbox, although details on what exactly that will mean are scarce at the moment. Paradox is promising the show will offer up “3 new games, 4 new expansions, gameplay reveals, and updates” and has helpfully shared which studios those new games will come from. Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester had the following to say about the show.
“I don’t want to say we have too many announcements, but it’s hard to choose which one has me most thrilled. Talking directly with our players about our games, sharing their excitement for what’s coming next, comparing how many hours we’ve played - it’s something everyone at Paradox profoundly enjoys. I’m also eager not to have to keep these announcements secret for much longer.”
The first game is coming from the folks at Harebrained Schemes, which is the studio behind the newer entries in the Shadowrun franchise, including Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun: Dragonfall, and Shadowrun: Hong Kong. It’s been a while since Hairbrained Schemes has released anything new (2018’s BattleTech being the last game) so whatever they’re about to reveal has been cooking for a while. Whatever it is, Paradox promises it’s “going to bring video game storytelling home.”
Next up is a new project (the first, actually) from Paradox Tectonic. The studio is headed up by Rod Humble, a veteran of The Sims franchise, and it’s expected they’re working on something Sims-esque in nature. For their part, Paradox promises the game will “expand your creativity.”
Finally, perhaps most excitingly, Colossal Order is going to be announcing their next
