Pocketpair released a new patch for Palworld yesterday, which addressed several issues. However, it also fixed a bug which allowed players to capture rival trainers. It was “unintentional”, according to the developer on Twitter, and it apologized for the same.
In Palworld, players can capture Pokemon-like Pals with Pal Spheres, but it’s also possible to target humans (and sell them to the Black Marketeer, ethics be damned). A bug caused this to extend to the rival trainers that serve as bosses in the Towers, and since they’re essentially another character and their Pal, they made for potent minions.
Pocketpair never addressed whether it was intentional, though it has praised players for exploiting different mechanics to defeat higher-level Pals and even construct elevators in their bases. This bug may also fall into the same category – whether it’s content to add it back in remains to be seen. Time will tell, so stay tuned.
Palworld is available in early access for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC – check out our review here. It’s had over 25 million players since launching last month.
As a result of various bugs that we fixed in the most recent patch, a bug that allowed players to capture the tower boss was unintentionally fixed.
We apologize for inadvertently fixing a bug.
