A brand-new trailer and key visual were released on Friday to announce the upcoming continuation of the Overlord anime project, which aired its fourth and most recent season back in Summer 2022. The anime continues with Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom, an anime movie set to debut this Fall, and in addition to new cast members, the main staff working on the film's production were also announced in the trailer, which can be seen below.
The upcoming Overlord film is set against the backdrop of the once-prosperous Roebel Sacred Kingdom as it faces collapse after an attack from the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth. OVERLORD: The Sacred Kingdom premieres this Fall.
By far the most eye-catching moment of the trailer for the upcoming Overlord movie is the proclamation by Jaldaboath, who shouts victoriously, «The Sorcerer King is dead!». The film's second teaser visual, released together with the above trailer, depicts a limp Ainz Ooal Gown falling from a reddened sky. Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom is centred on the Roebel Sacred Kingdom, led by Sacred Queen Calca Bessarez, neighboring what was once known as Re-Estize.
Roebel enjoyed a period of peace before the onslaught of the Demon Emperor Jaldaboath, as well as an attack by the Demi-Human Alliance. These incidents have driven the once prosperous Sacred Kingdom to the brink of ruin, and despite their efforts to retaliate, there was simply too great a difference in power between them and Jaldaboath's forces. Desperate to save their kingdom, the grandmaster of Roebel Sacred Kingdom's Sacred Paladin Order, Remedios, travels together with her subordinate, Neia, to the Sorcerer Kingdom, led by the notorious Lich Lord known as Ainz Ooal Gown. As we already know, the Sacred Kingdom despises the Sorcerer Kingdom; however, they travel to the nation of the undead with hopes of obtaining a power capable of taking on Jaldaboath.
