Dragon's Dogma 2 players are getting their save files absolutely destroyed by Dragonsplague, as the game severely punishes anyone who ignores the signs of this mysterious illness. If you keep an afflicted pawn in your party for too long, the results will be much worse than having an uncooperative party member and could stop you from making progress in the story.
Now that players are making their way through the game, some didn't heed the warnings about their pawns getting Dragonsplague. They're now in for a rude awakening, as without any warning, infected pawns are transforming into dragons, destroying whatever village they're resting in. According to some, this has killed NPCs that are needed for story progress, leaving players unsure how to continue in their doomed save file.
As you can see in the video above, the streets are empty after the Dragonsplague attack. You certainly pay a high price for ignoring the illness for too long. This is a fact that the game is very eager to rub in your face, as another player shared a screenshot of the message you'll be greeted with should this happen to your pawn.
If this happens to you, it is possible to bring back an important NPC that you need. It will cost you a Wakestone, but that's a small price to pay for actually being able to progress the story. You'll be stuck collecting Wakestone shards for a while if you want to bring back the entire village though - the morgue is going to be stacked.
Players are still making discoveries in Dragon's Dogma 2, as the game only launched last Friday. Heck, when I initially covered Dragonsplague, I made no mention of the fact that it could destroy entire settlements... because none of us realised that it could. So, I do apologise to anyone who read my initial coverage of the ailment and thought that the worst thing about it was having some slightly unresponsive pawns. As we know now, it's much, much worse, so definitely listen to your pawns when they say they're feeling ill.
