After launching Starfield without DLSS support, Bethesda Game Studios confirmed in a news post on Steam that the revolutionary technology will be added to the RPG soon. Currently, players have had to use a popular DLSS3 mod that was released the same day Starfield launched. Additionally, the post outlined plans to work closely with Nvidia, AMD, and Intel on driver support. An Nvidia driver released yesterday improved performance on new RTX GPUs.
The news post also highlighted the improvements in update 1.7.29 that hit Starfield today. The roughly 2.5GB update improved performance and stability and reduced crashes while increasing framerates. A few progression-blocking quest bugs were also fixed as well as part of the update.
In the post, Bethesda also highlighted other features that will be coming soon. Brightness and Contrast controls as well as an FOV slider are also on the way to Starfield. It’s a bit odd these aren’t in already, but it’s good to see they are coming. Especially with how dark certain environments—such as caves—can already be. Also, an HDR Calibration Menu and support for 32:9 Ultrawide Monitors are in the pipeline.
A big quality-of-life feature is in the works as well: an Eat button for food. This was present in previous Bethesda titles, but as for now is missing from Starfield. At the moment, you have to pick up food, then go into your inventory and find it to eat it. Once the feature is in, you will be able to directly eat food in the world rather than having to add it to your inventory first.
