Nintendo has deployed The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom patch 1.2.0 which allows players to get various in-game items.
After installing this new update, players can obtain a number of in-game items for free through specific Nintendo Switch news channels (through the HOME menu). We've seen something similar with Breath of the Wild shortly after the game's release in 2017. For instance - a certain article on the news channel caused apples and meat to rain in Breath of the Wild. It was a nice little addition to the game back then. It's good to see that Nintendo has enabled this feature again within Tears of the Kingdom, although the patch notes mention that, "depending on the state of gameplay progression or the location in which the data is reopened, there may be cases in which the items cannot be received."
In addition to the above, this new update packs various progression issues as well as a fix for an issue preventing fairies from appearing under certain conditions when they originally should have appeared. Also included are fixes for several issues in order to improve the game's overall gameplay experience. With Tears of the Kingdom installed this new update should download automatically to the Switch platform. Of course, it's also possible to download the patch manually through the game's update option.
