New World’s next update is on the way, with downtime set to begin around 11PM PT tonight. The update will usher in the Siege of Sulfur event, helpful changes, performance improvements, and a number of fixes.
Luck of the Bones is coming to a close and The Siege of Sulfur event begins tomorrow, August 30th. The event featuresa new public event to step up and challenge. Sulfur Elementals are going to be out there threatening sandwurm eggs, and it’s your job to protect them. Groups of 10+ max level players that defend the eggs and defeat enemies will earn a number of rewards.
The loot includes standard rewards, which have no daily limit on how many times you can earn them, and bonus rewards, which you can earn up to three times a day. Standard rewards depend on how many eggs you’ve successfully defended and include rolls on fear items, including Named gear, Obsidian Gypsum, and more. Bonus rewards include one guaranteed procedural weapon at Epic+, Epic+ armor piece, Umbral Shards, and even more Obsidian Gypsum. This event ends on September 12th.
A number of fixes also make it in this patch. One of the changes is to client performance, with the New World team having capped the number of sounds in higher-population areas. Anywhere with more than five players counts, and these audio limits should speed things up. These limits were used in the past for the same purpose, but new content made the team lift them.
Some quest bugs and Transmog fixes are also included. For the latter, a few of the changes are visual, including having the proper icons, and to make some of the instructions clearer. Error messages have also been added to let you know if you’re trying to apply a skin where it can’t go.
