Ascendant Studios and EA have detailed tomorrow's Immortals of Aveum update 3 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Last week, Ascendant Studios rolled out the game's second update to improve frame drops and stuttering. In addition, this patch includes various bug fixes. Now, one week after the release of this patch, the development team and EA plan to deploy the third patch for the first-person magic shooter across PC and consoles. Going by the official patch notes shared in advance, this patch should improve the game's image quality on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Also, this update improves performance, includes various visual improvements throughout the game, and fixes some DLSS 3 issues on PC.
Performance and upscaling issues were mentioned in our launch review - especially on consoles, performance could take a hit on various occasions."The surface-level appeal of Immortals of Aveum’s world extends to its presentation", we wrote in our launch review. "As mentioned, the game is built on Unreal Engine 5 and can look fairly striking at times, with detailed environments and impressive lighting. That said, nothing feels particularly believable or lived in with most environments sticking to those overly-familiar fantasy tropes. At times the game can feel like a tech demo for UE5, or at least it would if it performed better. On PS5, Aveum only offers a single visual mode, and while it targets 60fps, the game doesn’t always stick the landing with some noticeable slowdown. FSR upscaling also seems to be putting in some serious work, with some scenes having an oddly washed-out, blurry look to them."
