Nintendo has rolled out a new Switch system update designed to address a pesky online connection issue.
According to the patch notes (which are republished below), Ver. 18.0.1 fixed an issue that resulted in some wireless access points not being visible when attempting to set up a wireless connection.
Nintendo said the update also includes unspecified system stability improvements.
Nintendo shut down online play for 3DS and Wii U on April 8. While it had already closed the eShops for both systems in March 2023, until this month players had been able to continue using online services in-game, such as multiplayer and rankings.
The shutdown only covered in-game online functionality, meaning it’s still possible to download update data and redownload purchased software and DLC from the 3DS and Wii U eShops “for the foreseeable future”.
Nintendo broadcast its latest Indie World presentation last week, giving players a look at 17 upcoming indie games. Highlights included Steamworld Heist II, Europa, and Lorelei and the Laser Eyes.
