Need for Speed Unbound’s year two roadmap has been released, with EA confirming that the content will be taking inspiration from past games of the series, and there will be four volumes of content released over the next year. Each volume will consist of at least one major new game mode or feature, two customisable cars with body kits, and speed pass unlockable content, including premium optional tracks.
The first volume starts this month and runs until April, with it being Head to Head with Audi. Following on from that will be the first volume inspired by a classic game, that being the Drift and Drag whose roots are in Need for Speed Underground. Cops vs Racers, inspired by Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, will be the August to October volume. The final volume of the year has yet to be confirmed.
The Premium Speed Pass is a new addition too, and gives those who choose to buy it access to one of the new vehicles and its customisation options. The free Speed Pass will remain and will continue to provide tracks and vehicles too. There will also be a focus on bug fixing and improvements, with a focus on what the community wants most being the priority. There is also a caveat at the end of the announcement that anything announced today could change based on player feedback too.
In our Need for Speed Unbound review, Dom wrote, “Need for Speed Unbound is the best arcade racer of 2022, and a real statement from EA and Criterion. Why it’s snuck out with so little fanfare will be one of the mysteries of the year.”
