After years of being teased with Pachinko cutscenes and a distinct lack of anything Metal Gear Solid in five years, Konami has finally announced a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater at today's PlayStation Showcase.
Around halfway through the PlayStation Showcase, a trailer played that showed some shockingly realistic ants, crocodiles, and snakes. You might think that was leading up to some kind of Tokyo Jungle reveal, but it was actually the long-awaited announcement of a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. No date was given to the remake, but it was confirmed to be coming to PS5 along with a piece of key art. We also got to hear a little bit of the classic Snake Eater theme, supposedly suggesting that Donna Burke will be involved once more.

To say that it's been a long road to get to this moment would be an understatement. Metal Gear Solid fans have been through the ringer with this rumour, which was first reported by VGC back in 2021. After it was first rumoured to be a thing, several key bits of evidence started lining up, like a Metal Gear Solid artbook appearing in the Virtous Studios recruitment video, and it listing Konami as one of the partners it had worked with.
Then, more recently, it was reported that it was going to be announced as a PlayStation exclusive during a Showcase. This was then argued by another insider, who reported that it was actually going to be a multiplatform release. That brings us to today, where the project was finally announced once and for all.
