It's a great time to be a fighting game fan, as between the release of Street Fighter 6 this month, Mortal Kombat 1 in September, and Tekken 8 in the near-future, there's no shortage of digital fisticuffs to be had. With all of those high-profile titles on the way, Razer is throwing its hat into the ring and has revealed its new fight stick, the Razer Kitsune for PC and PS5.
Unlike traditional fight sticks, the Razer Kitsune is a leverless model which means that it has no traditional joystick. Instead, directional inputs are handled with dedicated face buttons. This makes the Kitsune great for pulling off advanced fighting game moves, but it is controversial in fighting game circles for this function.
Razer's design is also remarkably thin in comparison to other fight sticks on the market, and it uses low-profile linear optical switches for its buttons. Razer also teased special edition versions of the Kitsune, which have been customized with images of Cammy and Chun-Li from Street Fighter 6. And yes, it does have built-in RGB lighting.
It's also worth noting that the Street Fighter 6 developer has new rules for its official Street Fighter 6 tournaments, as all leverless controllers must «operate to a universal standard regardless of make or model» at Capcom-sanctioned events. Pricing and a release date haven't been confirmed yet for the Razer Kitsune, but you can sign up for updates at the link above.
