PlayStation 5 owners who’ve pre-ordered Final Fantasy 16 have reported a mysterious new demo has appeared in their libraries. However, it can’t be downloaded just yet.
The reports come from the Final Fantasy 16 subreddit. At least two fans noted a Final Fantasy 16 demo is now visible in their PlayStation libraries. Square Enix stated that a demo would launch two weeks before the game, and with it coming out on June 22, the timeline adds up. However, not all pre-orders are reporting a demo appearing in their libraries, so it’s possible these demos were made visible too early in certain regions.

Square Enix has also announced a Final Fantasy 16 pre-launch celebration will take place in Los Angeles on June 11 at 3 PM PT (6 PM ET), making it the most likely time for a demo to be announced. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
It's great to see demos coming back into vogue. With triple-A prices in the $70 range, gamers are having to be choosier than ever when it comes to determining which games to buy. Capcom led the way with game demos for Resident Evil 4 Remake and Monster Hunter Rise, but Square Enix has also been at the forefront of the demo push with Final Fantasy: Stranger in Paradise, Babylon's Fall, and Forspoken.
Another upcoming game that will likely get a demo is Tekken 8. Steam's internal database was recently updated to include a "Tekken 8 Playtest," although like Final Fantasy 16's demo, it is not yet available for download. Tekken 8 still doesn't have a release date, so this demo is more likely a test for Tekken 8's servers and gameplay balance rather than an opportunity for players to experience the finished product before purchasing the game.
