A week ago, Square Enix started dropping brief daily messages from members of Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s development team, starting with producer Yoshinori Kitase confirming that development was proceeding to plan, and that the team was working on nailing down a launch date for the sequel. Subsequent days have brought short (and often incredibly pointless) quotes on the game’s story and characters, its world, its music, its party members, and how accessible it’ll be to newcomers.
Now, a seventh message has been shared, coming from creative director Tetsuya Nomura, who seems to be suggesting that an update for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is imminent. Asked about when we’ll be learning more about the game, Nomura simply says, “More information will be revealed soon.”
It’s unlikely that the timing of these messages – this last one in particular – is a coincidence, what with Summer Game Fest set for later today, and Square Enix mentioned as one of the event’s confirmed partners. Whether that means we’ll be getting another look at Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth remains to be seen, but the odds do look fairly good.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is in development for PS5, and is due out this coming winter.
