Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth closed out the recent Summer Game Fest Showcase, showcasing new gameplay, combat and some interesting revelations. Out in early 2024 on two discs for PS5, it’s far from the end of Square Enix’s remakes allegedly. After reporting about Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica (both leaked accidentally by Atlus), insider Im A Hero Too teased that a Final Fantasy 10 Remake is in development.
They first posted on ResetEra whether anyone was a fan of the original game. On asking when the 25th anniversary of its release is and being told 2026, they claimed, “That’s the next remake. Not answering any questions about it, others know (including some in this very forum). It’ll hit for its anniversary.” Their replies have since been edited, likely to provide plausible deniability.
While it seems like a stretch, especially following rumors of a Final Fantasy 9 Remake, it’s not impossible. The question now is whether it will be a remake on the scale of Final Fantasy 7 Remake or akin to Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, which had revamped visuals but the same gameplay and story. Stay tuned since it’ll be a long wait for an official announcement.
