Final Fantasy 16’s development team has stressed frequently that the upcoming action RPG is going to tell a full story with a definitive beginning and end, and that, with that remit of being a self-sufficient tale being so important to the game, there are also currently no plans for any post-launch DLC. However, that last bit might not be entirely set in stone.
Speaking in a recent interview with Japanese outlet ASCII, producer Naoki Yoshida reiterated that Final Fantasy 16 would allow players to experience the full story, but added that depending on how it is received, post-launch expansions is something the development team will “consider”.
“First of all, we will release the main game, and if we receive positive feedback, we will consider doing something about it,” he said. “We have developed this work with the aim of making it a volume that you can enjoy 100% of the story and battle content if you purchase the package.”
Yoshida also went on to add that after the game’s PS5 launch, the development team will move on to working on a PC version. Read more on that through here.
Final Fantasy 16 is due out for PS5 on June 22.
