Support for Marvel's Avengers will come to an end later this year. Although there are still six months to go until shutdown, this week will be the last time Avengers gets new content. Content that includes a free Iron Man skin for (almost) all players that puts the hero in War Machine's armor.
“Iron Man's 'Variable Threat Response Battle Suit' will be granted when Update 2.8 goes live this week to players who've earned at least one Trophy/Achievement before April 1,” the Avengers studio has revealed. If you've been playing Marvel's Avengers and somehow you don't have a single trophy or achievement, now's the time to log back in and get one.

The Variable Threat Response Battle Suit is War Machine's armor. War Machine was rumored to be one of many playable characters coming to Avengers prior to the shutdown news. That may well explain why his armor is ready to go but has been added as an Iron Man skin instead.
Doing that has generated a mixed response. Some are labeling it ingenuity. A clever way to sort of get a new character into the game even though it's shutting down. Others have questioned why the team couldn't have just added War Machine if the character is ready to go. Probably because adding more story content at this point would just make it even more frustrating for those who have been following along.
Making a live service Avengers game was always going to be a tall order and unfortunately, it's one that hasn't worked out.
