We’ve been hearing about Skydance New Media’s Marvel game for a while now. In 2021, it was announced that the Uncharted creator Amy Hennig-leg studio was working on a AAA single-player action-adventure Marvel game, and the following year, it was revealed that the game would be set in World War 2 and star Captain America and the Black Panther of that era as its playable protagonists.
A recent leak seemed to spill the beans on the game’s official name, and that has now been formally confirmed. As part of Epic Games’ State of Unreal presentation at GDC, the aforementioned Hennig and Skydance New Media debuted a new trailer for the game, confirming that it is officially titled Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
As its name suggests, the game will see Hydra – a shadowy Nazi-offshoot organization in Marvel lore – acting as the primary antagonistic force, but our heroes are going to have some friction between themselves as well.
Steve Rogers aka Captain America will be working with Howling Commandos member Gabriel Jones, while Azzuri – the Black Panther of 1943 (and T’Challa’s grandfather) – will be accompanied by Nanali, the leader of Wakanda’s spy network. The two groups will clash (with all four characters being playable), but ultimately, will have to put their differences aside to form an uneasy alliance in order to take on a common foe. Check out the trailer below.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is set to launch in 2025. Platforms haven’t yet been confirmed.
