Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been announced by Skydance New Media and Marvel, taking players back to World War 2 and the origins of Hydra. The story focuses on both Captain America and Black Panther, who in this game is T’Challa’s grandfather Azzuri, who are both fighting the Germans. They also have a conflict with each other with different methods and goals to reach, which puts them on a head on collision.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra had its cast confirmed too. Khary Payton voices Azzuri, T’Challa’s grandfather and the Black Panther in this game’s timeline, Drew Moerlein takes on the role of Steve Rogers/Captain America, Megalyn Echikunwoke portrays Nanali, a Wakandan spy, Marque Richardson lends his voice to Gabriel Jones, a member of the Howling Commandos, Lyne Renée voices Julie, a member of the French Resistance, and Howard Stark, Tony Stark’s father, is played by Joel Johnstone.
The game will have four playable characters with the perspectives switching between Captain America, Black Panther, Nanali, and Gabriel Jones. This will give different gameplay aspects too, with Nanali likely having much more sneaking and spying compared to the other characters. Platforms are yet to be confirmed but with the game running in Unreal Engine 5, it is likely it will be released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is due to be released in 2025.
