The next wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC has been confirmed, with Wave 5 releasing soon! Players who've paid for the DLC, either through the Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pass or the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass, will be able to jump into eight new tracks very soon indeed.
We're getting not one, not two, but three new characters to play as this time around, with Kamek, Petey Piranha, and Wiggler now joining Birdo as DLC characters.
Wave 5 of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC brings with it seven returning tracks from Mario Kart history as well as a brand-new track — Squeaky Clean Sprint — which reminds us old-timers a lot of classic racing series Micro Machines!

The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 5 DLC release date is Wednesday 12th July. You'll be able to drive, swim, and glide across its new tracks very soon!
The Wave 1 release took place on 18th March 2022, with a gap of roughly five months between that and the second batch of courses. Wave 3 released in December 2022 and Wave 4 released in March 2023.
There will be six 'Waves' to this DLC in total, with each one delivering another eight tracks to the fans – but alas, the release date for Wave 6 has not been confirmed yet. Expect it by the end of the year.
Based on previous form, we would predict that the Wave 5 tracks (and new characters) will become available in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at 12 midday GMT for players in the UK!
