With Diablo 4’s Season of the Malignant going live on July 20th, players can look forward to new quests, Malignant Powers, a new replayable dungeon and boss, and the first Battle Pass. Of course, to claim rewards from the Battle Pass, players must make new seasonal characters.
With how games like Path of Exile and Diablo 3 handle new Leagues/Seasons, it seemed obvious, but this still caused some stir. Blizzard has clarified that Eternal Realm (or Standard) characters who completed the campaign could carry over their Altars of Lilith and map progress while skipping the story and having a mount from the outset.
Nevertheless, they may be able to replay their Eternal Realm characters in future seasons with Rebirth. It was introduced in Diablo 3 and allowed for carrying over a non-seasonal character without their items and starting from level 1 as a seasonal character.
Why is this relevant? In response to a Twitter user, Global community development director Adam Fletcher said, “Rebirth isn’t a feature in Diablo 4 yet. But we’ve heard this a bunch, so the team is aware.” The “yet” part indicates that it may arrive at some point. Of course, you still need to do a bunch of grinding, but at least you get to see a familiar face. That probably counts for something.
As for Season of the Malignant, stay tuned for more details in the coming week.Diablo 4 is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and PC. Check out our review here.
